Stanbic Bank's Generous Gesture: Empowering Maternal Healthcare in Uganda
In a heartwarming display of corporate social responsibility, Stanbic Bank has made a significant contribution to the healthcare sector in Uganda. The bank has donated medical equipment worth 65 million Ugandan shillings to Kawempe National Referral Hospital (KNRH), a facility renowned for its exceptional maternal healthcare services.
This donation is part of Stanbic Bank's ongoing commitment to its L.O.V.E. Month initiative, a four-year-long celebration of its customers and community engagement. KNRH, with its 200-bed capacity, is a bustling hub of medical excellence, particularly in its labor ward. On average, the hospital delivers 80 babies every 24 hours and performs over 10 major operations daily, making it one of the busiest in Africa.
Dr. Byaruhanga Emmanuel Kayogoza, the hospital's Executive Director, expressed his gratitude for Stanbic Bank's support. He highlighted the hospital's daily challenge of managing 60 deliveries, often involving twins or triplets, which results in an average of 80 babies per day. The Director emphasized the critical role of medical equipment, stating that skilled staff alone are insufficient without the necessary tools.
The donated equipment includes essential items such as Radiant Warmers, LED Phototherapy Machines with FLUX meters, Patient Monitors with cardiac monitoring accessories, heavy-duty low-pressure suction machines, ICU beds, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, and heavy-duty wall-mounted oxygen flowmeters. These contributions aim to enhance the hospital's capacity to provide life-saving care.
Paul Muganwa, Stanbic Bank's Executive Director, shared his thoughts on the impact of their donations. He noted the importance of simple amenities like curtains for patient privacy, emphasizing the dignity and respect owed to patients. Muganwa also mentioned the bank's commitment to supporting the hospital's efforts, inspired by the dedication of previous generations of bank employees.
Dr. Isaiah Chebrot, representing the KCCA Director of Public Health, praised Stanbic Bank for its unwavering support of government programs. He expressed the connection between the bank and the mothers it serves, emphasizing the bank's love for mothers and its positive impact on the community.
Patrick Semanda, the Stanbic Kawempe Branch Manager, added a personal touch, stating his pride in the bank's contributions to Uganda's healthcare system. This donation exemplifies Stanbic Bank's dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of Ugandans, particularly in the critical area of maternal healthcare.
