Following her release on bail by the Delhi High Court in December 2025, in connection with a money laundering case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Virk sat down for a candid conversation, revealing the profound emotional and physical toll her imprisonment took.

Virk described Tihar Jail as a place of unimaginable suffering, stating, "Tihar is a place I wouldn't wish even on my worst enemy." Upon her initial arrival, she confessed to questioning her fate, thinking, "I don't deserve this." She pondered if past life actions, known or unknown, had led her to such a predicament. The emotional weight was immense, leading her to confess, "I used to pray that death should come and take me away." The sight of her parents visiting her in jail was particularly agonizing, forcing her to apologize for the distress her situation caused. "My parents and siblings stood by me because your own people know who you are," she acknowledged, highlighting the unwavering support of her closest family.

You sleep on the floor," she stated. The barracks opened at 6 am and closed by 6 pm, with a midday break. The food was monotonous and unappetizing: "The food is terrible - the same dal, same sabzi, four rotis and rice every day. You don't feel like eating anything."
Interactions with the staff were also mixed. While some policewomen were kind, others, she noted, "vent their frustration on inmates."
But here's where it gets controversial... the stigma of arrest.
Virk also spoke about the intense stigma she faced after news of her arrest broke. "When my news came out, people would say, she has done fraud," she expressed, contrasting her situation with those accused of more severe crimes. "I would think, those accused of murder are being treated kindly, and I am being called a fraud for something I didn't do."
When questioned about the alleged influence of money within the jail system, Virk offered a candid perspective: "In jail, nothing happens without money. I don't want to say much, but if you have money, your work gets done. If you don't, you just sit there." Even after her release, Virk's compassion extended to those she met in jail. She actively helped two women who lacked legal support. Another woman, who had spent six months in jail after her husband transferred Rs 17 lakh into her account through share market dealings, also received Virk's assistance in obtaining interim bail.

Virk's time in custody, exceeding four months, was linked to alleged proceeds of crime totaling approximately Rs 6 crore. The case stems from an investment scam where a complainant was reportedly promised a lead role in a film, leading to their investment. The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that funds were channeled through Virk's accounts and connected to property acquisitions and a supposed e-commerce platform.
The Delhi High Court granted Virk bail on December 27, 2025, acknowledging her significant time in custody and the protracted nature of the trial, especially with the main accused, Amit Gupta, being absconding. The court's decision was based on ordinary bail principles, noting that the alleged transactions occurred between 2008 and 2013.
Virk has since returned to Mumbai. Reflecting on her professional life, she shared, "They unfollowed me, it doesn't matter."
