Star Wars Actor Oscar Isaac's Bold Stance on Disney's Fascism
In a surprising turn of events, Oscar Isaac, the talented actor who portrayed the iconic Poe Dameron in the Star Wars franchise, has expressed his reservations about working with Disney. With a career spanning multiple successful films, Isaac's comments have sparked curiosity and controversy.
Isaac's recent interview with GQ Magazine has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Referring to Disney's decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel after his comments on the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, Isaac stated, "Right now, I'm not so keen on collaborating with Disney. If they can find a way to distance themselves from fascism, that would be a welcome change."
But here's where it gets controversial... Isaac's stance is a bold one, especially considering the financial success of the Star Wars films he starred in. The three movies, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker, collectively grossed over $4.4 billion worldwide. Despite this, Isaac stands firm in his beliefs.
The actor continued, "If Disney can make that change, I'd be open to discussing a return to a galaxy far, far away, or any other exciting project."
An editor's note reveals the interview took place shortly after ABC and Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! in response to Kimmel's monologue. Kimmel's comments, which criticized the MAGA movement's reaction to Charlie Kirk's death, sparked a nationwide outcry, leading to his suspension.
When Kimmel returned to the show, he emotionally addressed the situation, stating, "I never intended to make light of a young man's murder. There's nothing funny about it."
Isaac's interview also addressed his previous statement about returning to Star Wars only if he "needed another house." He clarified, "As an actor, I strive to make unique, handmade films and collaborate with inspiring individuals. Star Wars, while successful, wasn't my initial artistic vision."
The Frankenstein star admitted to GQ that his previous comment was "a bit insensitive." He explained, "People ask questions, and sometimes you give answers without fully considering the impact."
Isaac's current projects include Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, streaming on Netflix, and his upcoming lead role in Beef season two, also on Netflix.
So, what do you think? Is Isaac's stance justified, or is he being too harsh on Disney? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
