The former Gurnee resident, J.R. Singleton, turned 24 on the very day he became a champion. Singleton, a nose tackle for the Seahawks, is now Warren Township High School's first 'Blue Devil' to claim the Super Bowl title. Singleton's journey began in Gurnee, where he attended Warren Township High School. "He's a really competitive kid with a super high character. We first met him in 8th grade, and he stood out during a physical drill. He was the big kid who moved with grace, and we knew he'd be an asset to our team."

After graduating in 2020, he continued his football journey at Iowa State, where he played as a defensive lineman for four years. During this time, he played 46 games and earned recognition, including an All-Big 12 honorable mention and a co-captain role in 2024.
In 2025, the Seattle Seahawks signed Singleton as an undrafted free agent, and he quickly made an impact. His journey to the Super Bowl victory is a testament to his determination and skill.

He would often travel back to Gurnee, riding on buses to Warren's away games, and spending time with coaches and players. As a former camper at the Gurnee Park District, he served as a mentor and inspiration at youth football camps, encouraging and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
"I used to be one of those kids at the camps, and it laid the foundation for my love of sports. I'm grateful for the counselors who guided me. I want to give back and inspire others as they did for me," Singleton shared.
Coach McNulty emphasized Singleton's character, saying, "He's an outstanding person, a great athlete, but an even better human being. We're incredibly proud of him."
Singleton's message to current Warren students is powerful: "Playing for Warren is not just about the wins or the jersey. It's about the lessons you learn and the relationships you build. Coach Mac and his staff are exceptional, and your child will grow and develop under their guidance."
